30 versus 40

Well this blog has become quite the time capsule.  Since our last post, there's a literal pandemic, and also I turned 40.  My friends are also turning 40 so I'm scrounging around through old pictures reminiscing as theirs come up ... and experiencing the fascinating juxtaposition of photos between my own milestone birthdays a decade ago versus now.

30: Buckhead rooftop bar.

40: Hamilton in my living room.

30: new hair, clothes from White House Black Market and makeup, with help from my girlfriends!

40: COVID hair, an old top from Ross Dress for Less, and makeup ... oh whatever who cares.

30: too busy for cake

40: too busy for cake

30: hordes of friends, including from out of town

40: The rabbi's family and my sister's family. To be fair this is essentially all of the people I ever see in person.

30: prospective dating interest

40: 2 kids later we postponed valentine's day date in february because i was traveling too much ... still waiting to feel comfortable going out to dinner given that I'd rather expend my infection risk activities on my children attending school

Nothing makes you feel old quite like having a 30th that is MUCH cooler than you are (or were, at that moment or ever), and then turning 40 in a world full of "pods" and staying home all the time.  Irony makes all birthdays even awesomer!
