Weight watchers, breastfeeding

Just a post to bookmark that I started weightwatchers and give a quick breastfeeding update on how things are the same and different the 2nd time around... read if you like!

I gained about the same with Emet as Eden, but I carried it differently.  That meant that I looked less heavy at the end of my pregnancy with Emet, but I'm in the same boat re: weight loss.  I have officially plateaued at around the same time, at around the same weight, as I did after Eden.  I think I lost more initial weight with Eden because a lot of the weight was water retention during that pregnancy - less of an issue with this one.

WW worked well and quickly for me last time.  I'd like to not have to buy a new wardrobe and feel a little better before I go back to work, which happens sooner this time.  So, here goes!  I have about 25 pounds to lose.

Breastfeeding... well, the main difference is that I'm less stressed about it.  And we knew about tongue tie so we got that fixed early (3 weeks).

But he still has his issues - mainly GI including gas and reflux which we're treating with Zantac (he spits up less than Eden did but seems more uncomfortable about it).  He also seems to want to eat less than Eden did, and less than I feel like he should want to eat!  It is really annoying to try to wrestle with a baby who seems so finicky - I never know whether it's going to be a decent feeding or whether he's just going to be screaming... and even when he actually wants to eat, he still tends to squirm and pop off and make me work hard to feed him.  If memory serves me, Eden was a very good eater once her tongue tie was fixed, until she got sick at least.  Emet is consistently difficult in this way (though much much easier in most other ways).

Because he's such a fussy eater we haven't really started him on bottles yet... hopefully he won't refuse a bottle, but he did great with them when we gave them to him at about 3 weeks old, so I'm not too worried about that.

I got a mild case of mastitis last week - achy, chills, felt feverish, and bad boob pain.  I think it was caused by sleep deprivation + wearing something too constricting.  Never had mastitis with Eden so this was a new experience.  I caught it early and treated it and luckily didn't need antibiotics.

OK - off to try to get a couple of hours of sleep!
