Updates for Daddy

Michael's out of town and out of contact on a spiritual retreat this week - something we wish we could do together but isn't really going to be possible for a while with 2 little ones!
Here's a pic of Daddy with the kids!

And here are some updates for him, and for the rest of you -

On Sunday I took both kids out by myself.  This was a first!  It was to a birthday party of one of Eden's school/synagogue friends and I knew there would be lots of friends there.  Avery turned 3, and had her ceremonial first haircut (upsherin).  We are doing this for Eden and Emet as well - we do not plan to cut their hair until they turn 3 years old.  I can't believe that's less than a year away for Eden!  Anyway, this party was a princess dressup party, so I got to order her a princess dress, and eventually she agreed to put it on - after seeing Gabriella in hers.

Thanks to Mindy (Robbie/Lily's mom) and Brooke (AE/Ariela/Ma'ayan/Naftali's mom), we survived the party!  Here are some pics:

Eden with her friend Gabriella.  Eden really likes Gabriella - when we saw her walking in she said "I want to go to Gabriella's house."  She pronounces it "Gab-y-lella"

When you ask Eden who this little girl is, she'll say "my sister!"  I'm guessing someone told her they looked like sisters or something.  We had never met this girl before :)

The rest of Sunday we spent around the house, re-introducing the famous piano mat, and doing a little tummy time (and screen time for Eden, unfortunately - but I was exhausted!)

Then Grammy and Grampy came to save the day!  We gave her a bubble bath Sunday night and she loved it - we hadn't done that in a long time!

Yesterday we (Grammy and Grampy) put together the double stroller and IT FITS IN MY NISSAN LEAF!  And it's really easy to fold, unfold, and change around the seats!  Though - I get the impression it's nowhere near as comfortable as the BOB, and there's no cupholder/snack tray for the kids.  We took it out for a spin in the afternoon -

Last night we had pizza with Eden's friend Maya and her mommy.

We've transitioned Emet from his rock n' play to bassinet (a hand-me-down from Robbie & Lily) and for the most part he had been sleeping well, feeding really only at 1 AM for the past few nights, but last night was rough, and he woke up basically every 15-20 minutes after the 1 am feeding!  I hope it's not a pattern...

For a nice 15-minute nap during the day - like his sister he's not a great napper -
at night he's swaddled in his baby burrito sacks
More general stuff:

Eden's mostly good, but we are seeing some expected emotional volatility of a two-year old... and she is continuing her obstinate resisting everything anyone asks her to do, plus wanting to carry her "friends" (little dolls) everywhere.

Eden: I want to take my friends.
Mommy: You can choose one friend to take with you.  Which one would you like to take?  Anna?  Elsa?
Eden: Both.

Having tiny dolls strewn around and knowing she can ask for a particular one at any time is stressing me out quite a bit :).  School has also said she has said she wants to go home a few times though seems fine in between.  And another diaper rash flareup.

She seems to understand that Daddy is on a trip so she's not constantly asking where he is anymore, and I'm sure that is part of the reason she is a little sadder than usual!

She's learning how to say "g" and "k" - I have to admit I'm a little sad about this - our baby is growing up!

She also regularly says stuff like "my turn!"

Recent quote:

Eden (in car): Aunt Becky and Uncle Matt.
Mommy: What about Aunt Becky and Uncle Matt?
Eden: I want to hear the music of them.

Her current favorite music is Rabbi G and Marshmallow Avenue :)

We miss you, Daddy!

EDIT: forgot to mention, Emet is smiling now!  He's smiled several times at Grammy, and at Aunt Becky and Uncle Matt, and a little at Mommy when I did Daddy's little eye trick that worked for Eden :) no photographic evidence yet though...
