Eden's a little person these days, and very interested in conversing. She likes describing the state of affairs ("That's scary to me," "I fell down") and asking questions ("Whatzat?" all the time!) and even making jokes!
Some other commonly-heard phrases: "I want my bubble wrap game."
After picking up "Pat the Zoo" from her bookshelf to bring over to the couch: "It's very heavy."
In lobby of synagogue: "That's the rabbi! That's Rabbi Sandler!"
A few minutes later, in lobby of synagogue, very loudly: "I WANT TO GO TO SERVICES!!!"
When we took her into services, loudly during silent Amidah: "Where's the rabbi? Right there!"
Everywhere, when people's backs are turned only (but usually while they're in earshot): "What's its name?" or, if she knows the name: "That's Chris!"
Randomly in our garage: "Where's Aunt Becky's bicycle?" (it was on the other side of the minivan, and I'm not sure how she even knew to ask about it)
With increasing volume and intensity, whenever not being granted her immediate desire: "Nonoooooooo!"
Upon viewing any object in mama or daddy's hand, and sometimes just other objects in the environment as well: "Mine!" or "No mine!" or "My [NAME OF OBJECT]"
She uses "mine" as a tactic to avoid grooming like hair or tooth brushing. She grabs the brush and insists on holding it.
Eden, while eating a banana on the couch at 9 PM: "I want to watch Daniel the Tiger."
Mama: "You're 1. Do you really think we're going to let you watch Daniel the Tiger at 9 PM on a school night?"
Eden: (laughs, and luckily does not push the issue)
Lately she's also been saying a lot of "how about _____?" or "what about _____?" (like picking out a book - "how about this book?" - also another way to express something she wants when she's being offered something else, e.g. "how about veggie burger?" when she's being given something different)
She also has started to ask to repeat books/songs/etc. over and over again when she likes them. "Again!" (or in Eden-speak, "A-den!") Conversely, she will immediately reject something she's sick of or doesn't want at the moment! Her latest favorite song that I sing to her is "A you're adorable," which she asked me to sing six times the other night.
Eden, after Henry the cat jumps up on mama's lap: Henry's on my mommy.
After a pause: Henry is Goldbug's wife.
At dinner:
Mama: You pooping?
Eden: No, I just tooting.
She says her name correctly now - she used to say "Ee-nen." It's a tiny bit sad to hear her correct her own pronunciations over time... she's fixed "waterlemon" to "watermelon," etc. "Milk" has gone from "meh" to "bet" to "melt." She still velar fronts (can't say k or g, substitutes mostly with t/d).
Can't wait to be there!
ReplyDeleteLove these updates! I can't believe how fast she's growing!
